What I’ve been up to | Style & Inspo

With a new year comes new growth. I am typing out this from my college campus cafeteria, distracted by the loud noises of my fellow campus mates enjoying their free time before their next lecture. I am studying my Bachelors Degree in Strategic Brand Communications at VEGA in Johannesburg, and if VEGA is not a familiar varsity to you then I think to explain it would be, that it is the leading Brand Leadership School in South Africa. Expensive? Yes! I can tell you now that I never though this would be me, 4 years later after graduating matric in 2012 – I’m a youngin, I know. But seriously, education has been one of the few things I’ve been really excited about lately.

I L.O.V.E what I do. Be it sitting and typing out a post, preparing for a shoot, or even filming a video. Being an blogger and in right, an influencer, has been the best decision I could have made for my life. Which is why I decided to take on the journey of expanding my knowledge into the world of brands, and what they are really about. I feel like I belong here. It’s such a good feeling!

I still make time for my daily life, and my blogging life. Attending events after hours and squeezing in meetings and shoots before and in between lectures. I tell you this is not for the faint hearted. Last week I attended two events. Both of which stood out for me. If you follow me on my social media, I’m sure you got a lil peak into the fun that was had. On Thursday I went to the Fort Network launch. What was very unusual for me was that unlike the other events that I attend, the Fort decided to invite people of real influence in the media. Bloggers (and I mean the real ones), producers, directors, TV personalities, influencers in digital media, media editors, sound engineers, and the list goes on. Fort launched that they’re in business for 10 years now and we got to exclusively be a part of their music video which launches today on MTV Base. It was so exciting!

Then on Friday, I attended a highlight event. An exclusive dinner with Bobbi Brown and Lira to celebrate their ‘Be Who You Are’ campaign. I was chosen to be seated amongst some of the most influential woman in South Africa. Mrs South Africa 2015 and Mrs World 2016 Candice Abrahams, singer and song writer Judith Sephuma and Singer Lousie Carver are just a few of the ladies seated at this exclusive dinner. We were treated to a mind blowing menu that did more than just tickle my taste buds. It was definitely a spoil. What stood out for me the most, was the conversation that was had. Questions like, “What does it mean to be an influencer?”, “What did you learn to love about yourself?”, “Whats your favorite Bobbi Brown product?”, and “What does it mean to – Be Who You Are?” came up. It was really interesting to hear these women’s stories. To know what they had to learn to love about themselves, & realizing that no matter how pretty you may look online, offline you still have so many flaws, flaws that we need to learn to embrace and not critisize. You are uniquely you! 🙂

I hope you are having a fabulous week. I’m trying to organize a cute lil giveaway for all you love birds on Valentines day, so keep an eye out on my social media pages for the announcement.

I love you guys so much, so thank you for all the love and support you all have shown this year so far. I am so excited about whats to come and can’t mention too much, but all secrets will be revealed soon! Nudge nudge*wink wink

XOXO
