As someone who has never traveled abroad before, I find myself dreaming day and night of the day where I get my passport stamped. Heck, I don’t even know what going through customs feel like, or getting a visa, or even having a meal on an airplane.

Growing up we did a lot of traveling, except it consisted of my mom and dad squeezing my brother and I in the backseat of my dad’s Nissan Centra. We hadn’t taken an aeroplane to any destination as everywhere we visited, was merely a few hours away. I can remember the first time I boarded an aeroplane, it was like I was awake in one of my dreams. I looked out the window the entire time to see nothing as the cheapest flights meant the earliest flights, and the earliest flights meant it was still dark outside. Before I could even open the magazine in the pouch in-front of me, I remember being told to buckle up as we were about to land.

Everyday since then, all I can think about is finally getting to travel and see the world for myself and not what Instagram makes it out to be. But finances were always the issue here. Why don’t I save you ask? Because my savings goes to more important things usually – like helping my parents or paying for University fees, or being an adult. Never the less, its a dream I still hold on to tightly.
